What is Spirit and Word Church about?
The new testament offers many descriptions for the church, these include; a body, a bride, a family, a flock, a community/citizenship and an army. Each of these descriptions has a profound implication for what the church should be and what the church should be doing.
-Body-1 Cor 12:27, Rom 12:4-5, Col 1:24.
-Bride-Eph 5:23.
-Citizenship/Community-Eph 2:19-22.
-An army- Eph 6:10-18.
Discovering the purposes of the Church.
-Why does the church exist?

To answer these questions, we can look to few reference points;
-Christ's ministry here on earth -what did Jesus whilst on earth
-Images of the church- how Christ views the Church
-Examples from the new testament church-What did they do?
-The commands of Jesus - What did Jesus tell us to do?
Summary of the Purposes of the Church- the two Great Scriptures (DEWFM)
-The greatest commandment - Matt 22:37-40.
-The great commission - Matt 28:19-20.
*Discipleship- We are to edify, educate or teach God's people become more like Christ in thoughts, feelings and actions.
-*Evangelism- To communicate God's love, message to the world(Matt 28:19-20, Mark 16:15)
*Worship- To love the Lord with all our heart (Matt 4:10, Psa 34:3)
*Fellowship- To integrate into God's family those who accept Jesus and decide to become a part of the church (Eph 2:19).
*Ministry- To serve and minister to people(Eph 4:12).
